See New York unfold in this stunning first titlefrom Inside and Out, a series of double-sided wall charts that open out to more than two and a half feet. Take a stroll past iconic buildings and spot more than eighty objects in a compelling game of search and find. Then flip the chart over to see cutaways that reveal the city behind the scenes.
Josh Cochran grew up in Taiwan and the United States, and studied at the Art Center College of Design. His clients include MTV, the New York Times Magazine, Pepsi, Sony Music, and Time Magazine. He lives and works in Brooklyn with his small dog, Porkchop.
This is a pretty nifty visual depiction of New York City and some of its famous spots and buildings. Readers can enjoy spotting famous landmarks and then flipping the entire set of pages over in order to have an inside glimpse into the same spots. There is also a collection of objects on the last page for readers to find as they peruse the book. I liked the digital illustrations but could have used some labels for the places. Insiders will probably love it as will tourists recently returned from the Big Apple. Most youngsters will enjoy trying to find everything that they need to locate, but I'm not sure they'll see this as an exploration of a city so much as a puzzle and visual tour.
