Hello, I am Nina Carothers, author of The Wonderful World of Color Olors book series. I first thought of the Color Olors 30 years ago, back in 1993, while coloring with my daughter. She picked up a Red Crayon and said, "This is a Red Ed" and I followed with, "and this is a Blue Lue, a Yellow Ellow, a Green Reen, etc." Hmmm? It was at this moment that The Color Olors were born.
Having 4 children of my own and coming from a large family helped me to realize that there were so many lessons, in a fun way without realizing it, that a child could learn from a storybook filled with my Color Olors Characters. The next thing I knew there were 13 Characters in my head all with a special story of their own.
I worked on the stories a little bit here and there and eventually decided to set the Color Olors books aside in lieu of raising my children and running a family business.
Over the years the Color Olors always entered my mind. I knew what I wanted each characters story to be about, writing bits and pieces here and there, but never really got the opportunity to sit down and write the stories in full until about 10 years ago, and that was 2013.
I then searched for a local illustrator and publisher to help me and luckily found both. My friend and fabulous illustrator is Chris Padovano and my publisher/editor is Rich Nilsen of All Star Press. Both are amazing!!
After teaming up we three produced 12 books in 3 years and then Life went in a different direction for me. I put my books down, never losing sight of them, hoping to one day get back to finishing my series.
2 years ago, when life took yet another turn, I decided it was time to go back to my Color Olor books and I have not stopped since. My illustrator and Publisher are both back on board. I have 2 new books written and illustrated totaling 14 now. Book #15 is a patriotic book due to be released in time for next years 2024 election. Book #16 is in my head and being worked on. With a world of color, there is no telling how many books I will write.
I am very excited about this journey as I feel it is God's plan and purpose for me. My books are written from the heart and I believe now is the perfect time to bring them back out. With so much going on in the world it is important that children learn moral values earlier than ever.
Keep an eye out for many other things to come including plush characters to go with the books.
I hope that you all enjoy my stories, told from the heart, for many years to come.
When Silver Ilver realises that one of the puppies in her dog Princess’s litter is unwell she knows that she must look after it, but what should she do?
Well, with the help of her special book and a prayer she sets about feeding the little puppy, however she soon she realises there is something really wrong with this little fellow.
A trip to the puppy doctor gives her the answer, the puppy has a cleft palate and the doctor warns her that the outlook is bleak.
However, Silver Ilver refuses to give up on the little one and names him Zeus. She searches for ways to make him well and discovers there is another puppy, called Mia, who has a cleft palate too, and she’s owned by a lovely lady called Sue.
With help and guidance from the friendly Sue, soon Zeus is getting on fine and acting just like any other puppy, getting into all sorts of mischief.
The author has written a lovely, inspirational story and the book has been beautifully illustrated by Chris Padovano. It conveys wonderfully the very special message, that animals born with birth defects deserve a chance at a life too.
A portion of the proceeds of this book benefit The Mia Foundation. Yes, it’s not a fairytale - The Mia Foundation is real and Sue and her helpers work tirelessly every day to rescue, care for and help dogs with all sorts of problems, and it all began with a little dog called Mia..
