“Belly twisting laughs aplenty in this black-as-night comedy romp.” Ronald Chipper
“A thriller, a satire and a laugh-out-loud comedy. A great book.” Mark, Leicestershire
“A real cracker. Makes you giggle like Jerome K Jerome, clearly an influence.” Sean, Dublin.
In Three Men on a Bender, with cruel sardonic wit Patrick Rossi recounts the story of cuckold Marco, morally superior and short-tempered natural leader Bradi, and himself as they witness a murder whilst on vacation in Ireland. In a series of drunken mishaps, Italy’s finest young stallions are enlisted by the killers themselves to hunt down the witnesses to the murder, becoming embroiled in an ever-deepening game of deceit. Yet it is only a matter of time before the sticky situation they find themselves in, alleviated only sporadically by the appearance of the beautiful Maylea, results in an even stickier outcome for the intrepid travelers in this hilarious story told with a unique brand of self-deprecating humor and sharp observation of man’s follies.
First off, I like real narrative..but not stream of consciousness B.S. I like Catcher and the rye. I even like/love The perks of being a Wallflower (yes, I know..but what can you do).
Ironically, this book has (apparently) nothing to do with them, yet I've enjoyed it to the Tee. From the first pages, it just kept on going and going and getting better and better. It's funny first and foremost, but then the story becomes unexpectedly very intriguing-like a fast page turner
Okay so the book could use some editing, but the author's voice is excellent and funny. I blew through the story in two days. The only point that disappointed me was the very end, where I wanted to know what happened, but it sort of felt cut off at that point. Certainly worth a read for anyone who likes quirky, funny stories.
This is a hilarious read, of a dark, bizarre, almost Quentin Tarantino quality, and a must read for everyone with a soft spot for Italy. Reading this, you can easily visualize a wildly gesticulating Italian telling his weirdest adventures. It's intriguing, it will keep you guessing, and chances are high you'll (like me) guess wrong. Unfortunately for the author, his editor didn't do the quality of the story-telling credit. It read to me as if mistakes had been deliberately left in the text, to emphasize the foreigner aspect. And really, the story and the narrator's voice are so strong, they don't need artificial enhancement.
A fun story with loveable characters. Patrick, Bradi and Marco have taken a trip to Ireland and through a haze of alcohol and a series of unlikely events find themselves helping killers look for... themselves. If you're looking for a light-hearted read I can recommend this, though it is in need of an edit.
I did not like this book. The concept is there, but that's about all that's there. The writing wasn't there for me, the story line wasn't there for me, I didn't connect with the characters, and there was an unnecessary amount of gratuitous sex. There were funny moments in the book, and those moments kept me pushing forward, but unfortunately I did not like this book.
A nice romp in the Lad Lit genre with well-thought out storyline replete with self-deprecating humour about God's gift to women Bradi, Marco and Patrick as they bite off more than they can chew on holiday in Ireland.
Hmmm. Kind of strange. I don't feel like the plot held together when you, the reader, finally had all of the information. (Also, the author used commas in random and unnecessary places.)
