Such a strange tale, and told in fragments by weaving a variety styles including, but not limited to gorgeous poetry shards, drama, philosophy, memoir (including e-mailed letters from the author's supposed mother), cut-up prose, and layered elements of collaged narrative. At times it was confusing, rather like a stream-of-consciousness flow that I simply surrendered to. There are seemingly random uses of Blondie's lyrics "One Way or Another," to a wide variety of writers' poems and prose, such as John Donne and JM Coetzee. I wrote down several phrases that stopped me- they were that vital. I recommended this to any person who enjoys a more experimental style of writing, or, as the title drew me in, a spin on the Brian Eno/ David Byrne collaboration: My Life in the Bush of Ghosts.
