"Breathe" is a brand new devotional, and first publication from Jaimie Bowman. Right from the introduction you get clear sense of her heart and voice. As a mom, time to spend with the Lord becomes much more difficult to carve out, but still so important! Bowman challenges us to find any time during the day and use this devotional as a tool to keep connected with God.
It may add an extra 'step', but Bowman doesn't provide the Bible verses for us each day. Rather, she stresses the importance of opening our Bibles to get the real Word of God and not just filtered through her voice. I am so glad she did this, for myself, but it also shows how much she values the Word and the Lord. From that instance, I knew I could trust her to lead me in devotions.
To be honest, I feel like a lot of moms may miss this gem. Because of the busy nature of motherhood, women often look for a short devo that doesn't really challenge just so that they can mark 'quiet time' off their to-do lists. This is not one of those devotionals. This is one that requires you to pull out your Bible, to ask questions, to challenge yourself, and to apply the verses. It is completely do-able, may involve more thinking, perhaps more time, but then you get so much more out of it.
I am giving "Breathe" 4.5 stars. I could recommend it to any mom, whether a mom of littles or bigs, a working mom, a SAHM, a homeschooling mom.

I received the Kindle version of Jaimie's new devotional, Breathe: 31 Moments with God for Moms in exchange for assisting with the book launch on February 1. All thoughts, opinions and comments however are strictly my own.
I lost my way in my relationship with God many, many times over the past 40+ years. I always know though that He is there, waiting for me to return to His arms, to His flock. Even when I have been silent, He has shown me love in so many different ways.
Jaimie's devotional has shown me that I can still have that daily relationship with God. That 10 minutes a day is all that I need, and surely each of us can find 10 minutes here and there to have a moment with the One who loves us.
As moms, we get so busy and "tied up" in our daily plans and activities, that something has to give, and it is usually our quiet time with God that we give up first. I have come to have a Father/Daughter relationship with God, in that I talk with Him at any time of the day, just as if I were talking with my earthly father on the telephone. While I'm walking the dog, or driving in the car, or doing the dishes - that's when I have my quiet talks with God.
Stop what you are doing right now and check out Jaimie's book. Resolve to spend just 10 minutes a day with God, and watch your life begin to change.

This book was everything I had been looking for. The Moments with God I've been longing for to keep my sanity. I love the real mom experiences and struggles in the book. Experiences followed by a prayer and reflection questions truly help to understand and reflect what you just read. Thankful for finding this book when I did. I read it in minutes because I was so excited. Now read it read it daily and reflect along the way.

A well written and insightful devotional that always seemed to touch upon the exact lesson, challenge or encouragement I was needing for that day. After reading only the first few days I quickly bought copies to give as gifts to some of my favorite women.

I won this book in a Goodreads First Reads giveaway and I can't say how pleased I am that I was the lucky one!
This book was written with the new or young mother in mind perhaps, but it was extremely helpful to the grandmother who is young in her walk with the Lord. It is written so that you get a moment with God for 31 days. That's how I read the book and why it's taken me so long to write the review. For the young mother feeling overwhelmed, this is an excellent format, but it is equally well-suited for those new to the bible and unsure where to begin. Each day has a scripture listed to read for that day, but she doesn't include that scripture on the page. You need to use your bible and that's ultimately what she wants to encourage here. She's trying to help women build and grow a relationship with God.
I found this book to be of great value to me as a devotional, but even more as a tool to help other women who feel they are alone and don't think God wants to know them. Ms. Bowman shares herself in these pages, just as Paul says we should do in 1 Thessalonians 2:8. Her willingness to share her imperfections shows others that yes, they are worthy also. I intend to keep this copy for myself, but I am going to buy a few more because I know there are women out there in need.

This book is a must read for any mom. She wrote this book from her heart. I'm blessed by her devotional. She is one unique writer! I love every single pages. God bless her!

Just finished reading this for the second time. Enlightening and full of God's love for moms.Every mother should read this!
