Jackson's girlfriend left him, because there is no "spark" in their relationship. His manuscript gets turned down repeatedly because there is no "edge" and his dream of becoming a published author seems to never come true.
But one day at a bookstore he sees his book, a book with his name on it, in the display. And there is money in his bank account, more than he has ever owned. But who published his book?
The money and new future as an author makes him quit his job and he decides to turn around his life completely. He wants to be a different Jackson, a new Jackson, he wants to win his girlfriend back and find that spark she was talking about and he wants to add some edge to his next book. But on his quest to become a new man he looses himself.

I quite liked the writing in the beginning. The author has a way with words, no doubt. But I couldn't really get into the story. It was good at first, but when Jackson was on his drug trip it felt as if I was reading a totally different book. I hoped it would get better in the end again, and it did, at least a bit. What happened to Jackson surprised me, his development is quite shocking and I would have never expected him to turn into that kind of man. He did indeed succeeded in becoming a different man, though I doubt that man is what he had in mind in the beginning.
