It was a pleasure to read. A great mixture of funny, sad, sometimes surprising facts. I like to think I can hear the voice of Fritz reading to me. Thanks Mr. Wetherbee!!

I had the opportunity to go home to my native New Hampshire and while there borrowed my Mom's copy of this work to read through the Arctic conditions. Fritz is as well known to New Hampshire as flannel shirts and Ford trucks. A natural story teller, Fritz "tells the story" of various historical events and people and he does so in the most interesting and dead-pan humored way. You can find him on Chronicle on TV, but he also has books like the above out too.

This collection does well to include not only the wealthy forefathers of the state but just your average folks who say may have been called up to War when attempting to remove a huge boulder from a road, or Nancy an engaged woman who followed her fiance on foot and froze to death in a brook after he left her at the alter. You'll meet 18 and 19 century people who made international difference or just a memorable impression on the state. Each story told in the "you're going to like this one" kind of way that Fritz has.

Even if you've never had the chance to visit New Hampshire, let alone live or be born and raised there, these stories are worth hearing and from one of America's best story tellers.

Interesting wealth of info. The strength of this book is the multitude of stories.
However, the brevity of each story left me seriously wanting more information, facts, or follow up.
Plus many times it was difficult to follow which relative exactly whom Mr Wetherbee was talking about due to the many many people connections that he spoke of in each story.
This book is perfect bathroom reading material.

I love this book of actual people that are from "The Granite State".When I lived there,Fritz had a show on PBS.The stories are heart-warming,funny & interesting!I had the opportunity to meet him
at a reading in Manchester,NH.Great Spirit!These stories are like
"fire-side chats"or sit around a campfire or listen to grandparents tell stories...love it!
