This Is Not Goodbye Anna's story is a must read for any book lover. It had me hooked from the first few lines, that good that I had to finish it in the one day. Not to give to much away but Millie and Edie just made me laugh at times,I have this lovely picture of them in my mind. For her first book Fiona must be so proud of what she has done, this book has everything, laughs, tears and reality. I cant wait for the next one, because of Fiona's work you just know that Anna has so much more to do and much much more to learn. Enjoyed every page.

I have read the other comments and strongly disagree, this book is actually a true story, the horror and suffering depicted is mirrored in the lives of hundreds if not thousand of other Irish women and children of that time. This is not fiction, but a heart felt journey of a very real Lady. It touched my emotions and I look forward to the next book.

I read this book as it was chosen as the February book in my book club. It would never have appealed to me to read it otherwise. The synopsis and 'medium'/'spirit' connection would not interest me in the slightest. However, I was prepared to give it a read, with an open mind.

Although a debut from an unknown author (medium) and I would normally make allowances for debut novels, I cannot in this instance. The grammar, spelling and punctuation in this book were horrendous. The overall structure of the book and the story was both choppy and irregular, changing on a whim, at a moment's notice, to something totally unrelated to what was being relayed at a particular time. There are instances whereby possibly three unrelated sentences (although it's difficult to tell) were written as one sentence, making absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Unfortunately we can't assign half stars on Goodreads. If I could I would assign a half star (at a push) for the pure effort of writing a book but unfortunately I cannot drum up any more stars for anything else. I do think that there was the ‘bones’ of story somewhere, however, the characters and plot etc. needed to be fleshed out so much more and the author should have given the deserved time to flesh out this detail. There was one thing I was thankful for....that it was a very short and quick read. If this book was edited by an editor or a publishing house, personally, I would seriously question their standards. Overall, this was a depressing read, in every respect.

I did not enjoy this book at all. It was nominated as a book club read therefore, I read it to get involved in the discussion but I can honestly find no positive points to make about it. The grammer, punctuation and in some cases spelling were very frustrating to work through. The misery was beyond anything I have read before. I persevered to the end to hopefully achieve some sense finality but the ending summed up the book overall.
