A compact, informative and yet critical look at one of the greatest persons ever to have been born in Bengal: that's how I would like to describe this book. It covers nearly all the aspects of the life of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486-1533), with separate chapters devoted to various debated & controversial aspects of Sri Chaitanya's life & times, e.g. his place of birth, the role of Sri Nityananda in the Vaishnavite movement, and ESPECIALLY the allegations about Sri Chaitanya being killed. The book confines itself to the analysis of already available texts, without undertaking any original research, which results in me debiting a star. But otherwise, this is one of the cleanest-yet-informative books available on Sri Chaitanya and hence I would like to recommend it to any reader who is casually interested in knowing more about him and his times.
