How quickly can life spiral out of control? Never run away from the past because it will catch you. Eventually. Amanda thought her life was perfect. Handsome husband. Clever child. Lovely home. Then it all started to crumble. First her husband is abducted, then her child. Is it something from her husband's work as a criminal lawyer? Maybe an unhappy client, or perhaps he knew too much about one of his less upstanding clients. The Police have little to go on so Amanda begins to investigate herself. She eventually realises that ghosts from her past are chasing her, and the only way to save her family is to face her tormentor.
I started writing when I was sixteen after being runner-up in a national short story competition, although my first children's book was not published until 1998. After that I began to grow in confidence as a writer and teamed up with an illustrator and we produced some children's picture books. I then wrote some children's novels, and later wrote adult thrillers based on some of my experiences working in Family Law. My last book was published in November 2015 and fulfilled a long-held ambition to write a Christmas fairytale. The book is Twelve Days to Save Christmas and published by Crimson Cloak Publishing. I have two other books with a publisher, but other the rest are self-published and I enjoy having control over my own books. To date I have seventeen published books, and am working on the next.
The book “Due Process” by Jane Finch was a really good book. When Amanda’s lawyer husband gets kidnapped, she thinks it is because of one of his shady clients. It is not until later that she realizes that everything could be happening because of her secret past.
From the very first chapter of “Due Process”, I was hooked. Finch drops the reader into the eyes of Amanda’s daughter Jenny. Jenny witnesses her father’s kidnapping and is almost abducted herself. Amanda manages to thwart Jenny’s abduction but is left wondering the fate of Tony, her husband. The story itself is a little fast paced. A lot happens in what seems to be a short amount of time. The character of Amanda is a strong, likeable woman. I can see her being one of my top favorite female character of all times. I thought Amanda’s secret life was amazing and exciting. In fact, I hope that Finch writes another book detailing everything that happened in Amanda’s secret life. Once the reader sees what happened in Amanda’s secret life, they will be on a roller coaster of suspense that they will not want to get off of.
Finch has written many other books, however “Due Process” is the first of hers that I have read. I truly enjoyed this story and hope to read more of her books in the future. This story is now making me rethink if I really know the people in my life as well as I think I do. If you like to read stories with a strong female lead then this is definitely the book for you. *I reviewed this book for Readers’ Favorite
Amanda Purcella had a perfect life, a wonderful husband, Tony and an amazing child, Jenny. When Tony was abducted and Jenny nearly abducted, she thought it was due to Tony's job. Tony, a criminal attorney had some dubious clients, but Amanda, aka Miranda Bell, had a past and it finally caught up with her. Miranda had testified against Samuel King, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison and now was out. He was determined to exact his own form of justice against her and the judge that put him away. Amanda decided the only way to save Tony and put her family together again was to face her persecutor face to face. Finch has written a nicely paced thriller that is sure to keep your head in the book.
Life crumbles so fast in this novel that I found my head spinning trying to keep up with it. The main character had an idyllic and beautiful life, and then things spiraled down and it turned into a kidnapping thriller that kept moving faster and faster until the end. I couldn't put it down once I'd started reading and I found it to be a real joyride. We quickly find out that behind the facade, nothing was as it seemed, and our character had a lot of skeletons in her closet that are going to need to be faced.
Ms. Finch has written a fast-paced-must-keep-reading mystery. From the prologue the reader is pulled into the lives of Jenny, and her parents Amanda and Tony. I rarely read a book in one sitting but this one was so captivating that I was challenged to take breaks. The story flows with twists and turns taking us on a journey of intrigue into the high stakes game of drugs, money laundering, Cayman Banks and witness protection program. The plot is exciting and fun to try and figure out. This is my first Jane Finch but I'm now a fan!
I loved the feel of this book from beginning to end, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. When Amanda’s happy life is so brutally destroyed, and her house is burnt down, you feel sorry for her. By the end of the book, you have a real empathy with her and hate the people that she is pitted against. In a sea of mediocrity that you find on Amazon, this shines out as a real gem. Jane Finch is the real deal and an authentic teller of a ‘good yarn’, and I can’t wait to read some more.
This story starts off with a kidnap, but very quickly the reader begins to realise things are not quite as they seem. Every time you think you know where the story is heading, you are swung in a different direction. Full of surprises, twists and turns, this is a breathtaking rollercoaster of a read. Can't wait to read more by this author.
“Due Process” is a fast-paced kidnapping thriller that left my fingers tired from flipping through the pages so quickly. The plot and pacing reminded me of a James Patterson novel, even though the structure was much different. This is a great novella for genre fans, long enough to encompass a complex plot but short enough to be read in a single afternoon.
