Glass Half Full

Rate this book
In April 2011, Lucy Rocca woke up in a hospital bed with no memory of how she had ended up there. After accepting that her drinking had spiralled out of control, she made the decision there and then to never touch alcohol again. However, the early days were a challenge, and Lucy began recording her journey in a blog as a way of helping herself move forward to a happy and sober future. For someone who defined herself by her love of drinking for over twenty years, letting go of the booze crutch was initially a challenge, but over time, Lucy began to realise how much happier she was living alcohol-free. Glass Half Full is the story of her journey from hopelessly devoted wine fiend to sober and truly happy for the first time in her adult life. As the founder of Soberistas.com, Lucy's blog also provides motivational and inspirational support for those seeking an alcohol-free life.

Brilliantly positive

Sometimes in sobriety you can get lost in the day to day struggles of life, it's hard to step back, breathe and remember how far you have come. Glass half full makes you remember to do this, to give yourself credit because the easier route would have been to carry on the cycle.
Life isn't always easy, but it's always worth experiencing it sober! A great read and very true!

Second reading is better

This is an excellent book that charts Lucy Roca's transformation from heavy drinker to teetotaller. The sober lifestyle is most definitely a no brainer, but like Lucy it took me a while to accept. Re-reading this book in my 4th year of being alcohol free was more enjoyable as I have lived through the positive changes she describes, I just needed a reminder as to how lucky I am to be living the dream of a life of self fulfilment without alcohol instead of my former existence of self destruction due to intoxication.
