The original idea of this E-book was discussed at the 50th Annual Conference of the Operational Research Society held in York, UK, in September 2008. It's popularity shows the healthy status of the research in multi-criteria methods, probably because problems to be solved with these methods can be found everywhere and affect everybody. Overall, the contributions selected for this E-book indicate that MCDA methods have a valuable role in supporting business and management decisions. It is also really encouraging to see a wide geographical coverage of the authors involved, spanning from Taiwan, India, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Ukraine. We hope that the works presented here encourage more research in the field and stimulate more practitioners to explore the potential of MCDA methods in their organisations.
