This book is great beginning informational text. I would use it to talk about they parts of a book, like the title, subtitle, captions, and so on. I also can see this being a great way to to talk about weather during the spring when we get thunderstorms. I can also see students using this book to write a short informational piece about weather and the effects that it can have. Students could also identify cause and effect sections.
Wild Weather discusses heatwaves, blizzards, floods, hurricanes and tornadoes. Each topic begins with a probing question for the reader. I like that the key woreds on the pages are bolded. This book would be great for kindergarten-third graders. The pictures are also wonderful and very bright!
This was one of my most favorite books when I was younger. I took it everywhere. I was fascinated by the weather it portrayed, to the point where I wanted to be a meteorologist when I grew up. (Not anymore.)
