My great-great grandfather was John McCarthy, the Mormon elder who saw the visions that led the captain to attempt the escape into the prevailing winds, so this book had special interest as a family history story that I had just heard mentioned. A pretty amazing tale. I was very impressed with the ship's captain and his actions to save all those that he did.

Interesting because the story is not well known in church history, and quite short because most of the book is appendixes and endnotes.
