A former foster child recounts his boyhood, his experiences in correctional institutions and psychiatric hospitals, and his work, as an adult, in a Christian program designed to help urban teenagers
I found this book very educational. My husband grew up in a very similar situation as Glen, so I know a little of what he is referring to. I'm glad that Glen has taken that stand, to try to get people to do their part so that the foster system could be an easier transition for kids to go through. I also love that this book shows how God can change anyone's heart, no matter who they are. An angry person full of rage can turn into someone who is doing God's work, and in the process, acknowledging the trials he faced but letting him become a better person instead of a bitter person. Praise God!
This book especially hits home as I have known Glenn personally for over 2 years now. I am one of his current caregivers, and it has given me a respect for the man that I never thought I could possess and made me care for him that much mire deeply. A well written story that will make you cry. Make sure to have a box of tissues.
This is a well told story of a tragic life, have some tissues ready when you read this. After a life of extreme child abuse and after being institutionalized many times Glenn was able to pull his life together and triumph. this is a true story!
