I am really enjoying reading children's history books. This was well researched and written in detail. I removed one star, because of the detail it did include. This is a children's book, but the following is a quote:
"His shot caught the Crow in the chest, who fell to the ground. Sitting Bull staggered forward on his bleeding foot and rammed his knife into the heart of the Crow."
Isn't that too much infomation for 10 year olds? This one is mild compared to the description of self torture performed during sun dances.
Other than these incidents the book was very informative. I now feel like I know who he is!

The Sitting Bull You Never Knew

As the other book that i am reading stated that many of the indians stories of the west were a sad story. Sitting bull was a man of legend and presteage, he lived by the code of his people, as a child he was slow and dilberate, as a young adult he was brave and driven, as an elder he was generous, and gave good councel. He wanted to become a leader of men, and found that he had to consider things from many different angles. Because of prejudism and the arogant nature of men especially white men, he was feared, and misunderstood. It was sad that he was killed by his own people because of his beliefs of personal freedom.
