The first half of the book is largely about the growing importance of Big Data, especially its potential application in business, while the second half shifts towards how different businesses can benefit from trend analysis using Big Data technology on user-generated content on the Web to stay ahead of the curve. While the book does provide a number of interesting examples, the same central message is repeated again and again with no detailed explanation on the mechanics and techniques of trend analysis, which to me is a pity.
