Solid, well-evidenced account of what happened to the Jews of Germany after 1945. It's a story complicated by occupying powers' classifications, displaced persons, poverty and zionism. I was disappointed there wasn't more about the psychological dilemmas of Holocaust survivors who chose to stay in Germany but perhaps this is another, less statistical book, as is the story of the European survivors who settled in Israel - what could their experience of a young, agricultural and militaristic nation have been?
