Widow Olivia Gray’s son, Joey, has been getting into trouble at school lately, and after he’s caught stealing he gets assigned to do community service at local veterinarian Zeke Harrison’s ranch. Olivia knows that Joey could use a male influence in his life, but since the murder of her husband, Olivia doesn’t see herself in another relationship again. Things just might change, however, when she meets the handsome veterinarian.
This was a very sweet and heartwarming inspirational romance with a sympathetic cast of characters. I liked how Olivia and Zeke’s romance took its time to grow the more time they spent together. I liked Olivia’s son, Joey, and I enjoyed how he took to working at the ranch and his attachment to one very cute puppy. The small-town setting of Rosewood, Texas, was nice—the kind of place where everyone seems to know everyone else and they all look out for each other. I enjoyed reading about Zeke’s veterinary practice and I admired his dedication to the animals he took care of. The story took an exciting turn as wildfires drew near to Zeke’s land and the subsequent rescue efforts to save the animals and the ranch. A strong sense of community was always felt throughout the story. A nice, quick, enjoyable read.
This is the 1st book I read by Bonnie K. Winn. I loved ❤ this book's storyline. I loved ❤ the Christian theme in this story. I loved ❤ Olivia's character. I loved ❤ Zeke's character. I loved ❤ Joey's character. I loved ❤ the ending. Awesome job Ms. Winn I definitely wanna read the other books 📚 in this series.
I've read all the Rosewood, Texas books but this one really touched me from the first page! I read the whole book in one day! The characters were amazing and I loved the storyline. Olivia is a fairly recent widow. Her husband is murdered in a large city on a business trip and she is still trying to come to terms with it. She has an adolescent son who is becoming unruly at school and she is constantly getting calls from "the office" to deal with his behavior. Joey has never been like this and she knows it's because of his father's death. I could certainly understand how a mother would be at a loss at a time like this. Olivia was an army brat and her father was not "emotionally available" for her growing up. She doesn't know how to reach her son and help him over this huge hurdle in his life. When he gets suspended fro school and given community service punishment with the local vet, she decides to go along with him to works along side him and try to find out it she can reach her son that way. Zeke is the local vet and although Olivia doesn't know it, he can understand everything Joey is going through. With the animals, Joey finds a way to work through his anger and sorrow and learn to love again. Maybe that will help Olivia too?
I loved this book! It was emotional, funny, caring and had the element of community! It also included huge wildfires so there was the element of danger and people working together to save their community. An all-around great book!
After three years of silence, the author has published a new book to add to her excellent Rosewood, TX collection! After so long, I hardly remember any of the past characters, and that's okay because I really don't think many of them were mentioned.
This was a powerful little book about a widow (Olivia Gray) who is trying to raise her troubled fatherless son. She has a strict military father who believes her son would be better off in a military school, but Olivia doesn't want to lose her only link to her husband and she believes he's better off with her.
Enter handsome veterinarian, Zeke Harrison. Zeke takes her son in to do his 200 hours of community service, as ordered by the local school where most of his crimes had been committed. Zeke has a special link tot he boy and knows what he has gone through. Soon Olivia finds herself getting involved with Zeke's practice and the mother and son spend countless hours with Zeke.
This was just a special, soft romantic story where we watch two hearts heal under the special care of a soft-hearted vet. The way these two came together in the end was very touching indeed! The author can really write a very good - and believable - love scene!
This novel is very character driven. We have a widow, her son, and a very respected Veterinarian brought to together by circumstances. The gentle love story begins, as the trio begin to respect each other and care for each other. A rather predictable story you think...But, no. This novel is written and driven by another character...a raging wildfire that not only threatens the Vet's ranch, animals, and persons, but the entire town of Rosewood!
The use of description, actions of men, women, children, and beasts as the flames intensify will have you gripped within the pages. There is no wasted dialog or scenes. The writing is tight and descriptive.
As I write this review, my county is fighting a monster of a wildfire known as the Rocky Fire in California. The community, neighboring states, equipment and more made me realize how realistic this novel is.
The romance was natural and truly is 'Love Inspired.'
This was a cute, quick read. The story isn't so much about Joey, as it is about Olivia. I find it hard to believe she would quit her job to volunteer at the vet clinic.
This book was so interesting. I just love how this book ends. I do not want to spoil how it ends. Though this book is a really good read. The book goes to show you how you can be accepted into a community. Have you ever felt you need to belong somewhere but you did not felt like you belong. You just may find that place. This book take you along for a ride that does just that. It about a boy and his mother trying to fit in. It also tell you a story about a veterinary and his family and his life. Though sometimes animals can understand you better then you think. I love the fact this book uses that but also trying to find a yourself and who you love.
What would you do to try and protect your family? Olvia feel she need to protect herself and her son. Though her son is acting out. Will her son change or will they have to leave the town. Zeke seem to understand the boy. Can they both get past their own past? You need to read it to find out. There are event that take place and if they are real event it just so much more to connect with the book. You can learn to read about history that way. This seen to talk about the Texan Fires that was going on at some point.
This book also doe something with romance as well. You can find it out though out the book as well. This book keep my attention and I really did enjoy it to a point i did not want it to end.
You can decide for yourself. I would love to read more from this author any day.
"Everyone wants to belong, making Olivia’s character identifiable. Winn’s description makes it easy to envision the scenes. The characters, particularly Joey, show great development" (RT Book Reviews). 4 stars
