Yes, with regard to Grammar Smart Junior, 2nd Edition (published in 2002, with the first edition hailing from 1995 and no, I have not read the 1995 edition), my inner teenager has occasionally but still most definitely found author Liz Buffa's tone of narrative voice a bit too artificiality immature, chatty and sometimes also a trifle over-preachy (and that the Greek mythology themed grammar activities and exercises envisioned by Buffa for Grammar Smart Junior, 2nd Edition are in my humble opinion rather tediously penned and with way too many historical anachronisms and inappropriately modern vernacular English jargon being used for grammar exercises and activities that are supposed to feature ancient Greek gods and goddesses ).

However, and certainly much more significantly and importantly (and the main reason for my rating for Grammar Smart Junior, 2nd Edition being four and not three stars), my academically inclined adult self (and particularly in my capacity as a German language teacher) does absolutely consider Gammar Smart Junior, 2nd Edtion to be an expansive, enlightening and above all delightfully easy to understand basic but in all ways sufficient (and indeed totally wonderfully educationally sound) introduction to English grammar, syntax, punctuation and much presented advice on how to avoid common errors of usage (suitable for in my opinion children from about the age of ten onwards, but that even adult learners could equally have much benefit from Grammar Smart Junior, 2nd Edition that is if they can ignore how immature and silly the above mentioned examples and exercises tend to be).

And considering how often English grammar etc. is not being taught at school anymore and sometimes even not permitted to be taught by in my opinion totally moronic and lacking in basic common sense school boards, yes, I do think that Grammar Smart Junior, 2nd Edition should be in every family’s home if parents want their children to end up with a decent knowledge of English grammar, syntax, spelling etc. (and with my only mild annoyances with the English grammar, syntax etc. content of Grammar Smart Junior, 2nd Edition being that Liz Buffa should not have ignored in my opinion the subjunctive mood, and that the section on diagramming sentences makes me personally cringe a bit, as it turns my beloved grammar into my hated mathematics or at least it appears for and to me).
