The author is reputed to be the first full time professional outdoors writer in the country.

This is a collection of short stories that appeared in outdoor magazines back in the 30's and 40's. With the exception of one tale, all are set in northern Wisconsin. The majority center on fly fishing or duck hunting.

His stories are filled with warmth, humor, and sincere appreciation of nature.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I need to buy the first and third in the collection so I can read them too.

My husband got these on tape from a guy at work. We listened to them on road trips.
