This was my favorite story as a child (which probably isnt a good sign as it was the story of a child coming to terms with death) but alas! A wonderful story.
my great-grandfather wrote this. my grandpa gave me a copy when i was in fifth grade. its been a while but this is one of the few stories that has made me cry. my dad told me other details and who my grandpa was in the story. it made it feel deeply personal to know who anne really was.
Some well-meaning adult gave me this book, literally 48 years ago, when I was 11 and my mother had left me and my dad. Everyone just pretended my mother had died, and I guess this was supposed to help. It didn’t. Don’t get it for any child in your life suffering loss.
