An Introduction to Process Cycle Efficiency: Engineering Sustainable Production Processes Using Lean Six Sigma and Process Cycle Efficiency Strategies

Rate this book
Process cycle efficiency may be used to determine cycle time improvement opportunities, and is applicable to both manufacturing and service related industries. Industry standards in this area are appalling, with efficiency rates of 1% typical in fabrication industries, and 5% efficiency ratings in transactional processes the norm.

Obvious improvements in process cycle efficiency can be made by reducing the wait time for works in process, and effectively reducing the overall cycle time. As a result of these improvements, organizations may experience increased customer satisfaction, as well as direct cost savings and improvements to stakeholder value.

Managers should be aware that limitations to effective implementation of process cycle efficiency initiatives may include organizational level resistance to change, falsification or inaccurate reporting of data used to both implement and measure improvement processes, and employee fatigue with “yet another” improvement process.
