The purpose of this book is to explain what happens during Basic Training and to give the reader an idea of what to expect. The first half of the book is a narrative on the author going through the process and events that happen at Reception, prior to Basic Training. The second half of the book is a mixture of advice and experiences that the author had during Basic Training. It also includes tips, suggestions, advice, things to remember, and contact information of the author for anyone who has follow-up questions.
A good read if you are considering joining the service. I docked a star because the book gives heavy emphasis on the reception and red phase, but there is hardly any info on white and blue phases.
