For most people with diabetes, the first line of defense is adding exercise to the daily routine. Everyone with diabetes should be getting some physical activity into their lifestyle. The key to good diabetes self-care is stay active by making the most of the activities that are already part of a person's daily life. Readers learn how to ease into more exercise, build an active lifestyle, create a fun, low-impact walking program, set realistic goals, chart and evaluate progress. The "I Hate to Exercise" Book for People with Diabetes features more than 60 photographs of models performing the specific exercises in the book. Most of these exercises use very simple a sturdy chair, some hand weights, and some elastic bands.
I am a type 1 diabetic. In the last year I broke my femur and dilocated, broke my ankle on both legs. Reading this book has encouraged me to get back out there and exercise and try to get back the weight I was before the injuries. Thank you.
Two interesting things about this book: 1.) although Hate is in the title, this book works hard to address the mentality towards exercise and overall is very positive. 2.) although every picture in this book features an older person or couple, it can very much be used by someone if any age. Great information, helpful charts for every day use, and wonderful examples of exercises to do.
