Schwab, "Cemetery Boys" by Aiden Thomas What I Loved: The dynamic between Winona (Nona) and Pate is rules. Nona, a punk rocker with a fierce spirit, finds herself entangled with Pate, an immortal who feeds on dreams. Their chemistry is slow-burning but electric, filled with witty banter and heartwarming moments. The mix of a small-town setting and supernatural elements feels a bit like good season of Buffy, hitting the small town secret vibe, making the story both familiar and fantastical. What to Know Going In: The pacing is steady, focusing more on character interactions and world-building than action-packed scenes. It’s a cozy, sometimes slow-burn read, with elements of supernatural mystery and historical backstory. Overall: Hannah McGuire's "The Immortal Life of Pate Percival" is a blend of paranormal romance and supernatural intrigue set in a sleepy Georgia town. You can really feel the research that went into presenting the supernatural and historical elements. More about building the world and relationships, not for people who want nonstop action in their stories or heavy spice. Still a really lovely read from an indie author worth their salt.
I read this book and I was immediately curious about Pate. There are coffee and bookstore vibes in there. This is a paranormal fantasy type of book with romance in it. It is easy to follow along. If you are a reader from another genre looking to get into fantasy I recommend checking this one out.
I'm only giving this a 3, because I can't do 2.75. For me, this was a dull read and I skimmed must of it. It's a lot of talking, like small conversations and everyday life. The redeeming aspects is the research done for historical facts and supernatural facts. The best part of this book is the list 25/20% of the book when the journal is involved. Unfortunately, I'm just not a fan.
This book was so interesting! Pate is a very mysterious and interesting character. Nona has a heart of gold. The plot twist was intriguing, and I'm dying to read the next book. I'm not much of a mystery reader, but this book has me curious and wanting to read more. I highly suggest reading it!
I saw this book on tik tok and was like, I need to read this. It was a different change than what I’ve been reading, so it was nice. I really enjoyed every part of this story.
This book will suck you in so fast. I loved the story of Pate and Nona. Nona is quite the character. Pate is…. Intriguing . I’m looking forward to more of their story.
This book was amazing. The author really did her research and it’s obvious she is a child of the 90s. With all the fun references back to vampire movies and songs I grew up listening to. I didn’t know the difference between a vampire and a vampyre before this book and found it soo cozy and charming. The chemistry between pate and Nona just flowed so well and I loved her aunt that she is living with. I loved reading Oates point of view bc even though he was born over 400 years ago he isn’t over 400 bc that’s gross he has been his age for 400 years. Makes the age gap more palatable. The author was kind enough to gift me the arc version for the sequel and I can’t wait to tear into it.

This was a cute light read, nothing too crazy & I really enjoyed it. I loved how Pate was really sweet & mysterious & I loved how chill Nona seemed about everything. How she was really open minded about everything (literally if that was me I’d be like ughh I need some time and be freaking out a bit lol) but honestly it was such a cute read. I liked how they got to know each other and he didn’t pressure her he always gave her , her space. Even her friends didn’t seem to be as shocked about the whole supernatural being dating their friend. Omggg and I especially loved Amatta’s journal, how she wrote about her and Pates story. I really want to know what’s happening with the whole “vampire apocalypse” thing going on in pates other world and I especially want to know more about Zenith. If you like fantasy fiction and like books that aren’t too crazy I recommend this one.
