Having taken our then struggling 7 year-old 2nd grader out of school to address a faulty foundation, caused by a lack of physical activities that encourage motor skills & brain development, I'm ever so sorry I didn't stumble across this book sooner.
I could have saved us all a lot of stress & frustration had I known that my bouncy energiser bunny was reacting out of sheer frustration rather than a lack of concentration as his teacher insisted. Had I read this book when we took up home education, I would have taken a totally different approach to the school at home that we did for the first year and a half before I stumbled upon learning styles & how they affect learners. It turns out our struggling learner was merely a kinesthetic learner who's needs weren't being met in the classroom environment & the school's repetition approach to address the problem was merely causing more stress and frustrations.
We have since implemented many of Ricky's suggestions and now, almost 3 years later our "struggling" learner's love for learning is starting to recover. Today he shows no more signs of ADHD.
This is an absolute must read for all parents, especially those who's kids have been labelled as ADHD. This book is backed with helpful suggestions as to how to help a kinesthetic student cope with a system that has failed so many to date.
