Am re reading this one after quite a long interval and I am really enjoying it. The are all flawed to some extent but add a lot to the mix. Will not change your life but raises some interesting questions about how to deal with some really dreadful people while still having respect for the rule of law.

It took me forever to read this book! I got so bored halfway through that I started two others by Irish authors. I guess he wrote it to show how a trial unfolds; a real mess at the beginning that needs to be unraveled. I much prefer his Harry Bosch books and can't say I'm wild about Mickey Haller aka The Lincoln Lawyer. The premise of a lawyer operating out of the back seat of his car is just a bit much. What if his files had burnt up when the old fella smelled gas after the accident? Haller doesn't seem concerned and the subject is not addressed by the author. I assume somehow they were saved?

Another thing; I am getting real tired of these lawyer books where the perp is always innocent and the lawyer arrives in his cape or in this case, his Lincoln, to save the day. Maybe if the cops weren't always framing innocent people in these books, we wouldn't have had the police shootings in Baton Rouge and elsewhere this week. What fiction portrays is often seen as reality and police killings are justifiable in the minds of idiots.

However, one has to give Connelly his due; he is a master craftsman, and I always awaited his Bosch books with great anticipation. But this one really got under my skin.

An early "Lincoln Lawyer" novel starring Harry Bosch's half brother, Mickey Haller. This book seems like it will be the basis for the next edition of Netflix's "Lincoln Lawyer" series as the teaser of this year's finale ended with the death of Glory Days, a hooker and friend of Mickey's. This novel starts out with her death. Can't wait to see how this book is portrayed on the screen. Well worth the read.
