I enjoyed this little book very much as I contemplated and prepared for the true meaning of Christmas.
Broken into 4 weeks:
1. Preparation
2. Pause
3. Ponder
4. Promise.
Blessed are the ears which hears God’s whisper and listen not to the murmurs of the World.
Thomas a Kempis
Lord it is nearly midnight and I am waiting for You in the darkness and the great silence.
Thomas Merton
‘the act of waiting increases patience, and that patience seems to help people make smarter decisions and place a higher value on what they are waiting for.’
In this time of narcissism where immediate gratification of desires is prevalent, waiting and patience is a godly virtue.
‘When we create a space for God within us, we find room also for friends and family.’
I would say that as we allow this space to grow we find space also for strangers and even enemies.
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord.
Psalm 27:14
Like Mary we step forward into a future quite different like we planned.
The whole point of Advent is to prepare our hearts and turn our attention to Jesus’ coming.

I read this devotional almost every year. It's a lovely way to welcome the Son of God into the Christmas season even more than I do on a daily basis all the other months of the year.

I am just beginning to read this book but I know it will be well written and very timely for this Advent Season. Jean Wise is a very inspiring writer and weaves Scripture into each day's reading. I highly recommend this author's work as I have read several of her books.
