Evil hearts and cut throats… everyone come and raise a toast.
When a high society party is interrupted by a gruesome murder, FBI Agent Darcy Hunt is called on to find the killer. But a hidden camera and a cryptic message tells her that something more sinister is going on.
Behind their pretty smiles and stunning necklaces, who are the party-goers really? And why is no one willing to talk?
In the meantime, all of Darcy’s deepest hopes have ridden on her sister finally waking from a coma. And it finally seems that all is not lost. Except that now Darcy must grapple with a new reality and come to grips with who her sister really is.
And in the middle of it all, Darcy remains stuck holding her breath, waiting for whatever cocktail of carnage Toby Parsons has planned next.

I liked this book, but it is an average read. There were definitely editing issues even with things that free software would have caught.
There were three issues that keep it from being more than a 3 star read. The biggest is it is slow to start. It takes a while to get very far in the investigation. The second thing is Darcy is pretty short sighted with some pretty obvious clues. The killer leaves an object behind at every crime scene. You don't need to have any investigative experience to understand what the object means. She also makes a pretty stupid assumption.
One thing I've not liked about the series as a whole is how immature and unprofessional she and Skylar are together. Darcy's fine on her own. Darcy says some very unprofessional things to the flunky coworker that everyone dislikes. Sure, she says what most people would be thinking, but it isn't acceptable to behave that way in a workplace.
The third thing that bugged me about the book is the title has nothing to do with the case. It is obviously about her sister who was in a coma in the last book. And the photo on the front is a pretty big spoiler. The bit with her sister is a very small part of the book. I could think of a dozen titles that would make more sense for the book.
I will keep reading the series but encourage the author to use Grammarly or the grammar editing feature in Word.
The Girl Who Woke Up is the eighth book in the Darcy Hunt FBI Mystery Series by Eva Sparks - I binged the entire collection which proved to be quite gripping reading. FBI Agent Darcy Hunt is not your typical crime-fiction lead ... she’s layered, haunted by past traumas, and yet still fiercely determined to seek justice. Each book plunges readers into intricate cases involving missing persons, political intrigue, and chilling criminal minds - all while weaving in Darcy’s personal struggles and evolving relationships. Ms. Sparks’ writing shines with taut and dynamic storytelling that kept me turning pages late into the night, and yet still rich enough with emotion that made me care about the people behind the crimes. The investigative details felt authentic without bogging down the storyline/s, and the twists are clever enough to have kept me guessing. A binge-worthy FBI thriller series that delivers both heart-pounding suspense and a heroine you’ll want to root for from book one to the latest release. Happy Reading…
The Girl Who Woke Up( Darcy Hunt FBI Mystery Suspense Thriller Book 8)
OMG!!!!!!!!!! This book was amazing and terrifying, but I loved every minute of it. I am happy that Lila woke up, I hope that she survived. Darcy has her hands full with the new case, a mass shooting at a very prestigious party. 4 casualties and 13 wounded, and the the next day a reporter is murdered. While trying to solve these murders, she gets dragged into another case, but they all come back together in the end. You will just have to read the series to understand. I can't wait to read the next book.
Darcy and Skyler are on a case to find out who killed a bunch of people at a party. They didn’t know if it was towards the rich, the poor or those who went to the party. But they figured it out and got the unsubs.
Darcy’s sister finally woke up. Darcy got to talk to her for a little bit until Lila started letting alarms go off. After the case Darcy took time off to spend time with her sister. Until her sister room ended up with a loud boom.

Another good Agent Hunt book. Things seem to be slowly progressing with sister Lila, but slowly. The main storyline here (I won't spoil it for you) is slow to develop and makes the story drag a bit. This is the reason why I'm giving the story just 4 stars.
I detest cliffhangers…don’t you? However, I love Eva all of Sparks’ Books. I had hopes for Lila’s return, now not sure. The case was sooo timely! Always a very GOOD READ!!
This was sort of story that could, would and does speak to the reality we live with in our world. It just gave me a reminder that not all people are on the right side. Good read but sad ending.!
2.5 rounded up. I like the Darcy Hunt series, this book seemed to have be a lot of recapping previous books, it was well woven into the story but still seemed to take up more of the book than the current story. I am looking forward to the next book.
Love Darcy Hunt but do not like having to wait till January for next book! I will of course, the character is great. You just don't want to stop reading.
Full of suspense and twists you won't see coming. Great characters and storyline. You will not be disappointed in adding this book to your reading list.
