B.M. Hodges was born in Utah, U.S.A., in 1973. He studied in the United States and Singapore where he was awarded a Master's Degree in Literary Studies.
He began his writing career in 2008 with Buddy the Rat.
He recently published the horror novel, Zombie Fever: Malaysia Outbreak and the short story prequel Zombie Fever: Origins. He is currently living in South East Asia and working on the third installment of the Zombie Fever series.
More zombie thrills in this third installation of the Zombie Fever series as Singapore is overrun with the mutated strain of the zombie fever, which had been accidentally unleashed by the car rally contestants in the second book. Whereas the second book was told wholly through Abi's voice, here we also get to hear from Tomas, the American-Canadian from the very beginning, and a mercenary soldier named Jayden, who's been sent in to Singapore to retrieve the girls, alive or dead. I found this book fascinating, but not as inspired as the earlier book with the car race/tv reality show across the Malaysian peninsula.
A couple of warnings, here: This book should not be read as a stand-alone, as it requires previous knowledge and the author does not info-dump on the readers, thank god. Also, it ends on a cliffhanger, so don't expect an HEA for Abi and Tomas. Not with a zombie pandemic ranging outside and Singapore about to be nuked.
I have been enjoying the Zombie Fever Series, and plan to read the 4th book coming out in 2013. Book 3 is by far the goriest, but a full scale zombie outbreak cannot be very pretty. I like the story line, because it is not about mythical living-dead zombies, rather about a form of germ warfare initiated by an evil corporation, which makes the infected act like zombies and prey on other humans. It is actually a plausible idea that some future corporation might want to help governments with population control by a containable wipe-out of its citizens, thus preserving resources for those selected to live on.
The story has just about everything; suspense, gore, romance, danger, techno-thrills. It just has one thing missing: EDITING! The first two were pretty bad with apparently no proofreading, messed up sentences, and bad spelling. This third one is downright irritating. I only finished it because I am this far into a good story.
I am not super picky, but I must say the constant typos in this are unprofessional, and damage an otherwise good book.
the beginning was a bit hard to get through. i was a bit bored. but then the book picked up and then it ended...at the beginning i was asking when is it going to end and at the end i was asking for more.
