He never thought they'd agree. A prison without walls. Inmates managing themselves. One last chance to turn their lives around.
When Warden Tom Delaney proposes a new style prison he never imagined the head of the prison board would give him funding. When he gets the green light there is only one condition-the inmates he's assigned will be the toughest, most dangerous criminals in the state.
Men and women desperate to break free from their bonds. A sadistic prison governor with his own agenda. And, Tom Delaney, the warden who wouldn't give up.
Delaney's Hope is the story of the prison that should never have worked.
Another GREAT read from this author!!!! . ..After reading Prisoners of the Williwaw,I couldn't wait to get started on Delany's Hope and let me tell you....it didn't fail! The author takes you to a different kind of prison. The kind that makes sooo much sense. I felt that I was right there with the prisoners as well as the staff in this book. It's about change, compassion and soo much more. I know that this book will stay on my mind for months to come. I've tried so hard not to read it too fast but I did anyway....oh well.I'm just gonna read Prisoners of the Williwaw again. Thank you, Ed Griffin.
Delaney's Hope is a compelling story that deals with the prison system and possible reform but goes much deeper than that. Written with heart and humanity, this had an interesting storyline that was easy to get absorbed into. The writing is straight forward and not at all forced with dialog that seemed very natural. This is a narrative about second chances and making a difference. I found it to be inspirational.
"Tom knew something was happening - the music, the beauty of the scene with the boats going up and down the river, this warm, loving woman next to him. Was he falling in love? Yes, there had been an attraction over the years, but nothing like this."
This isn't the typical books I read but thought it might be interesting. It started out slow but it held my attention. I've never been an inmate in prison but really wanted to know about Tom's plan of a new prison system that actually may work. I was more than impressed and loved how each character developed throughout the story. I found myself laughing out loud!!! Excellent job author Ed Griffin
This book provides an interesting look at our prison system, of both those incarcerated and those working within the system. Would an open ended system where a person would have to show real improvement before being released really work?
I really enjoyed this book. It would be great if this were to be done ,prison don't work it only teaches people how to be better criminals instead of rehabilitation.
