Fox Control

Rate this book
- All of the most popular methods of controlling the fox population - Based on current conservation attitudes The control of the fox population is an important part of countryside management and conservation and is needed to maintain a balance in the countryside. Throughout the book, Sean Frain emphasises the need for responsible control of fox populations rather than the needless slaughter of large numbers, which is both cruel and unnecessary. The reasons why control is necessary and the most effective, selective, and humane methods are discussed. The book highlights the need for the hunter to show respect for his quarry while at the same time carrying out necessary controls.

From the first few pages I knew I wasn't going to like this book; not because of the subject matter, but because of how pompously and overly biased it was portrayed in the style of writing.

As well as that, it was just down right insulting. "...and they became a protected species, which some lunatics would like to see happen...". Excuse me? In what writing handbook does it say to ever insult a potential reader? Insulting readers that may oppose your opinion won't get you anywhere, especially if they came into to the book not agreeing with you but respectfully wanting to learn more of the opposite view on the topic, which is one of the reasons I decided to read this. Maybe I won't make that mistake again.

Some points did seem justified but as soon as I thought that I was always instantly outraged with what the author had to say next. I can't believe this got published with the poor approach that was taken with this book.

This book is literally just repeated crap about some guy's fox hunting endeavors, why it should be allowed and why people who think otherwise are deemed as " lunatics". I should have dnf'ed this at the earliest convenience, but at least having now read it from cover to cover, I have a full and valid reason to detest it.

Would not recommend.

Pick it up, give it a go and (try to) enjoy!
