I really enjoyed this book. It gave a glimpse of what these men (mere boys to be honest) were thinking when they went off to the "Great War" and how they got through it. It was a different time then. I enjoyed the compilation of personal accounts and excerpts from letters to give a wide cross-section of different experiences. My one complaint would be that the excerpts didn't specify who was talking when and one had to keep flipping to the back of the book to see who was speaking.
