Excerpt from History of the Forged Morey Letter: A Narrative of the Discovered Facts Respecting This Great Political Forgery
The publication was accompanied by a statement that the foregoing is a true copy, which was not in exact accord with the facts, as was disclosed two days thereafter upon the appearance Of a fac-simile Of the letter. It was added that the letter was mailed at Washington by the Republican candi date for President to Henry L. Morey, a prominent member of the Employ ers' Union, Lynn, Massachusetts. At his death, which recently occurred, it was found among his effects.
