I saw the film of the play at National Theatre with Dominic West and Janet McAteer and wanted to refresh my memory. As powerful--and depressing--as ever. As deterministic as the French naturalists (Therese Raquin, etc.) Inevitable, tragic. needs to be followed by farce.
