-great book to introduce all types of graphs, such as pictographs, bar graphs, charts, etc..
-uses the same style throuhgout the book: words on top, pictures on bottom of page
-uses symbolism- symbols to represent words, which make it more engaging for students
-the students can make a graph of a topic the teacher chooses, such as the favorite ice cream flavors of the class, but have the students choose which graph would be most appropriate
-have students graph the weather for an ongoing graphing that is relating to another topic such as weather
