It is the year 2053. Ainsling Reid is a spirited and happy 16-year-old. Though she suffers from debilitating seizures, she has hope in the one doctor who has promised to cure her. Li Griffin wishes his father would let him live his own life. He is angry and resentful that he has been forced to work at his Clinic. His feelings are harsher for the mother who abandoned him many years ago. Despite their differences, these two teens form an unexpected bond when their lives cross paths. I didn't know what to expect when I started this book other than the fact that I was hyped up about it. This book is a vibrant adventure with colorful descriptions, vivid characters, and strong storylines that intertwine with one another beautifully and brilliantly. I lost count of how many times I gasped, had to stop, shut the book, and ponder what I had just read. There is not one useless detail that doesn't come together to paint the complete picture of this tale. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!
This novel is set in the future. One is quickly drawn into the story, wanting to know more about the characters and what challenges they are facing. I found this to be a page turner for me. I wanted to know how the characters were going to escape the evils that chased and enslaved them. This is a great story and I look forward to the next book in this series.
