What do you get when a sweet-as-puck hockey playing wolf shifter with a secret is reunited with his sister’s best friend that he’s loved since childhood who has a secret of her own? The swoons.
Declan
All my life, I’ve done what is expected of me and been the perfect son and brother. But I’m tired of living by the rules others have for me and am ready to go after my own dreams. First step is being the best left winger I can be on the Atlantic City Devil Birds hockey team and earning enough money to buy my dream farm. Second step is declaring my feelings and convincing my younger sister’s best friend to give me a chance to prove I’m someone she can love. She’s off working in New Zealand, so I have time to work on the first step before having to be brave enough to take the second. Until…
Miranda
I’m tired of being alone and not feeling like I belong anywhere. My parents are dedicated to their careers, and I rarely stay anywhere long enough to form genuine connections. I want to put down roots, be near the few friends I’ve made over the years, and be part of a community. I’ve had a hopeless crush on my childhood best friend’s older brother, Declan, for years, but he’s only ever seen me as a friend. It’s time to consider looking for someone who will love me in return. When a sudden chance to work for a professional hockey team in New Jersey comes up, I jump at it without a second thought. Little did I know Declan was one of the stars until I walked into the rink. How will I be able to find someone when the only man I’ve ever wanted is front and center and focused solely on me?
Fate has a way of bringing people together. Secrets have a way of tearing them apart. Which will prevail?
Secret Pucking Unicorn is a shifter hockey romance full of humor, heart, and heat. If you want to laugh, sigh, and swoon, not necessarily in that order, with funny, sexy shifters, this is the book for you!
Jenny Fenshaw is a funny, goofy, and creative author of contemporary paranormal romantic comedies who loves daydreaming about ordinary events, making them ridiculous, and including them in her stories. A native of southern New Jersey, Jenny loves to set her stories in the area she knows so well. From the Atlantic City Boardwalk to the Pine Barrens, her stories are a love letter to her hometown just as much as they are the love story of her characters.
When she’s not writing, Jenny enjoys watching ice hockey (for research!) and reruns of Murder, She Wrote. She has been married to her cinnamon roll of a husband for thirty years and has a grown son who has the best adventures.
Follow Jenny now for her romantic stories, stay for her ridiculous personality.
I’m first and foremost a PNR lover, though with the amount small town sports romances I’ve been devouring lately you’d maybe be hard pressed to realize that!!!! With Secret Pucking Unicorn, Jenny Fenshaw reminded me why I love the paranormal genre and shifters in particular! 🦄 🐺 🪄
I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in The Paranormal Hockey League series and I adored Mac/Declan when he was supporting and trying to help Burke with his love life woes. Little did I realize that our MMC would have so much more on his own plate to deal with!!!!
I loved the fact that there was more to Declan’s shifter traits than normal and the gods, how sweet was he that he knew for so long that Miranda was his mate and he gave her time and distance to get to where she needed time before he declared his feelings! He was definitely all hot cinnamon roll hero!
My heart hurt for Miranda. She just got settled into a new life that she was enjoying when it all just imploded! Her parents, especially her mother, OMFG…. how could one woman be so cold towards her only child?!?! I hated the truths that came out but I loved the support Miranda realized she had and how that made her feel. I have to admit that at one point I was yelling at her to think, pay attention and work out what was happening….. even when I was pretty sure I knew what was going on and that she couldn’t get it all straight in her head. I know that doesn’t make a lot of sense right now, but once you read the book it will be crystal and make all the sense!!!!! 😉😁
Mac’s sister….. oh how I wanted to smack her upside the head… she’s like a tornado and while she annoyed me a tad in SPU, when it comes to her book I think she’ll possibly be frustratingly entertaining and I’m pretty certain her bravado and bluster is pretty much a front! 🤔
This team of shifters are so much fun and they’re truly beginning to feel like a family, not just teammates. I cannot wait for more in the series (and just more in general from Jenny!!)…
For me, this is a definite 5 star read and one I’d recommend you give a go!!!!
I loved this heartwarming, spicy and swoony best friend’s brother, childhood friends to lovers, fated mates romance. It was beautifully told through the eyes of two likeable and relatable strong and passionate characters. Declan is a wolf shifter as well as a unicorn shifter. He is a professional hockey player on an all shifter team and plans to start his own horse farm once he’s no longer playing hockey. Miranda is the newly hired assistant manager for the hockey team and Declan’s fated mate. They grew up together as children but were separated young and this is the first time they will live in the same place as adults. Declan was giving Miranda time before he shared his feelings but now it’s time. To get their HEA they’ll need to unravel Miranda’s past pain, unpack their baggage, let go of lifelong patterns, learn to trust each other, and be willing to take leaps of faith. I have a soft spot for the people who are a bit uncomfortable in their skin because they don’t feel like they fit in or are worthy, like Miranda. So I love when they finally see their truth, their worth, and they get swoon worthy HEAs. And I loved the way Declan gently, lovingly, and beautifully helped Miranda come out of her past trauma and begin to embrace life and love. This second book in the series was well written and included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline. I am looking forward to reading more of the teammates’ HEAs. 4.5 stars.
Another great read from Jenny Fenshaw! Growing up together, Miranda and Declan, a wolf shifter, with the unique added bonus of being a unicorn shifter too, had to let life and feeling go as her parents sent her off to Boarding school. Declan knew from an early age that she was his destined mate, but letting her go was the right thing to do and the fates would bring them back together. Years later his chance to show her his true feeling came when she returned to the States and began working for the Hockey team her was playing for. Such a feel good slow burn romance! I could not get enough! On New Years Eve, Declan decided to profess his love and found she also had the same feelings. All seemed great with the world until Sophia, Declan's sister ruined it revealing truths that had been hidden from Miranda. Secrets hidden by Mirandas parents broke Miranda and when her parents, who had nothing to do with her during her growing up years, came to "avert a crisis" Miranda began to doubt her feelings towards Declan. Loved the angst and drama around Miranda's parents and the unexpected results that unfold. A brilliant shifter romance that will have your interest till the end, where a HEA results for them both. A Bonus chapter is available which is gives you the ending that you want, Yay!
Jenny Simon I have left my amazing review & ordered paperback!
I was honoured to receive this book as an advanced copy and this is my honest review.
Wow! I absolutely loved this story Declan & Miranda used to be really close childhood friends. Over time they had drifted apart.
Fate brings them back together when Miranda takes a job to assist the Ice Hockey team that Declan is part of. The team consists of shifter animals.
Gradually whilst Miranda and Declan work together their pasts starts to fall into place when they gradually catch up on what they have been doing since they left each other.
This shifter story is not a dark story like most shifter stories are & not scary. Jenny Fenshaw has mastered getting the balance of light romance with the introduction to the world of shifter animals.
I love this book so much especially the meaning of flowers! It's DEFINITELY one of those books that I will be able to read and re-read without getting bored.
This book was something else. It was a bit of a wild ride emotionally. But when you combine hockey and a shifter romance what isn't there to like lol The story was an easy read but well written. I loved the characters and that they had past history together. And the little different take on shifters with Declan was a bit of a surprise too.
This is the first book I have read by this author but I am going to be checking out more of her work.
I was give this book as an ARC and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a shifter romance and add Ice hockey into the equation and we have a heck of a good story. Declan and Miranda have known each other since they were kids and when their paths cross again sparks fly. They have a special connection one that is still there from when they were kids. They were getting to know each other again when something happens , disaster strikes, Miranda’s parents get involved ad not in a good way it is up to Declan and is friends to try and get the situation back in their control. I laughed, i got angry, i swooned. I loved reading their story.

Book review: Secret Pucking Unicorn By: Jenny Fenshaw
This is my first book by Jenny and I really enjoyed this story! I love hockey romances and adding in my other favorite shifters and it was a blast. Omg the emotional roller coaster this book has is so good. Declan in the cutest book boyfriend in every way. Marked all the boxes. I loved to see the story unfold between Declan and Miranda. Will definitely be checking out this authors other books.
Jenny Fenshaw Secret Pucking Unicorn: Best Friend's Brother Fated Mates Shifter Hockey Romance (Paranormal Hockey League Book 2) Declan and Miranda Fate has a way of bringing people together, and karma is a b!+(h. Declan and Miranda were childhood friends, and loved each other their whole lives. I hate Miranda's parents. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A story that combines destiny and romance. The story is about Declan, a hockey star who wants to fulfill his dreams of owning a horse farm and winning over Miranda. Miranda has a crush on Declan, but she is sick of feeling like she doesn't belong. Readers who prefer shifter fantasy mixed with sports romance will find this story of love, fate, and self-discovery to be engrossing, with high emotional stakes and romantic drama.
OMG! This book had me on an emotional roller coaster. Declan is everything you could want in a man. Sweet, supportive, a total hunk. Sigh. I loved watching prepare to claim the love he’s waited so long for. Then Sophie! Little sisters suck. I will admit to walking away and taking a breath as Mirandas parents had me screaming. I loved Declan and Miranda.
First time reading Jenny Fenshaw and Believe me this was a great story hockey with shapeshifting magic, I was curious and confused at first but at the story progress, everything make sense to me and It made me fell in love with some characters!
Received this in ARC and thank you for this opportunity to read this amazing story and series🥰
This was a very unique hockey romance. I liked it, I especially liked it for it's uniqueness. I like shifter books and hockey romance so why not both together. Intriguing.
The story was well done and solidly entertaining.
I received an advanced copy of the book and am voluntarily leaving a review
Received this as an Arc, first time reading any of Jenny's books. It bound my love for magic/ shifter and hockey together which made it an interesting read.
Declan and Miranda cross paths again, just like he always knew they would. Turns out they're fighting an uphill battle, but that gets figured out. I loved the explanation of the shifter duality presented in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this angsty, paranormal romance.
I am really getting into these hockey romances. This one was really good, I liked the characters and their chemistry. Really held my attention throughout.
This was a sweet hockey pnr with a second chance vibe. Declan and Miranda have known each other since they were children as Miranda is his sisters best friend. Both have eyes for each other, but don't realize it. You can feel the longing from Declan and the way he's all in right at the start, but Miranda is a bit more guarded, maybe insecure. The author has written a fun, sweet story that's enjoyable especially with the sports romance, hockey trope!
I recommend this book to those looking for a fun read with a little pnr, second chance, sisters best friend, and hockey rolled into one!
Secret Pucking Unicorn is book 2 in the Paranormal Hockey League Series written by the talented author Jenny Fenshaw. A new author for me but she's becoming a one click for me and I'm happy to read more books from her. This is Declan Mckenzie and Miranda Quinn, a hockey and shifter magical romance with a little of drama, banter, secrets, envy and so much more. The characters had a very undeniable connection and hot chemistry. If you want to laugh, sigh, get mad and swoon, not necessarily in that order, with funny, sexy shifters, this is the book for you! I absolutely loved the Bonus Scene!!! Fate has a way of bringing people together. Secrets have a way of tearing them apart. Which will prevail?
