John Farley was a guest lecturer at a course I sat at Farnborough, his comments on honesty, integrity and the importance of mistakes are central to test flying and the "just culture" we are meant to be upholding. Sound advice indeed. The book offers a fascinating insight into test flying. The contrast with todays test flying which is wrapped up in the regulators bureaucracy is quite startling. The 'can do' common sense approach of yesteryear makes interesting reading.

I was incredibly lucky to have had John Farley as a mentor and a colleague. It was an honour and a pleasure to have known him, and if you really want to learn about flying from one of the greats, this is the book for you. John passed away last year, but I can hear his gentle, but authoritative voice, and wicked sense of humour, still, in these pages.
