Nine-year-old Danny is terminally ill with leukemia. His wish is to visit the Grand Canyon. Danny’s divorced parents decide to take him there for Christmas. Danny is hoping that this trip will get his parents back together again. It was impossible not to love Danny in this book. He was such a brave little boy and he was always looking on the bright side. The romance in this story with his divorced parents didn’t really interest me and I found a little boring. The best parts of the book were the parts that included Danny, and I enjoyed the cross country road trip in the motor home to the Grand Canyon. A sweet and sad story.

4 1/2 stars! Danny the child of the H and h who are divorced is definitely precocious, cute and absolutely the star of the book. The plot, the characters, the poignancy is beautifully written and the Epilogue will definitely bring a tear or two for you. It feels so real that it no longer feels like fiction.

4 ½ Stars! ~ Do not attempt to read this book without a full box of tissues. This is a heartwrenching and heartwarming story of a couple who lost each other but with through the deep love for their dying son, they are able to open their hearts to each other again. Luke and Sherri slowly find the love they never really lost. This is truly a story of love.
