After losing their parents on Christmas Day, twin siblings Crimson and A'Miracle, lives took them in two different directions. A'Miracle set out to be one of the top defense attorneys of Chicago while Crimson ended up on the opposite end. Crimson's addiction to cocaine has everyone around him fighting for a new life for him but in his eyes, why fix what's not broken? Finding out some unexpected news is all he needs to turn his life around but is it enough to make him change forever? Fighting addictions is hard and it's even harder when someone you love is on the other end.
Will these two receive a Christmas miracle or will this turn into another season where the snowman melts, spring comes but the problems remain the same?
A’Miracle and Crimson have been bonded since the womb however after the murder of their parents went down two very different paths. If you’ve ever wondered how two children with the same parents and upbringing can live two completely different lives, this book is your answer. A’Miri went on to be a successful attorney while her twin went down the path of drug addiction. A’Miri did what she could but until Crimson wanted more for himself, her efforts would continue to be in vain.
I will not take away from A. Jaye that she can write an entertaining story with a captivating plot. The story drew me in immediately and had a good foundation. Unfortunately that’s where it ended for me. This was an extremely chaotic story that was all over the place. For such a serious topic this needed about 100 more pages to fully develop a more realistic storyline on drug addiction and rehabilitation. There were so many far fetched things happening in this story that my head was spinning.
Brother or not Crimson was a crackhead and he should have been treated as such. We all know or have an idea on the behaviors of an addict so to let Crimson have free rein of their homes was not realistic at all. Then we have Crimson checking himself out of a $50k rehab facility but he is able to detox with Sparkle?! And let’s further point out that he went from vomiting and going through withdrawals to days later dressing up and volunteering at the event 😵💫. In what world does a crackhead think someone is handing over $50k for a pipe dream and how did A’Miri not recall where her bracelet was?! I hope she’s not defending her clients with these same janky skills.
I could really go on and on with the many discrepancies and bizarre happenings in this book but I’ll stop here. I did love Crimsons determination to finally get clean. Once his mind was set on being better he was unstoppable. I also loved how A’Miri did what she could to support her brother from a safe distance realizing at the core of who he was, he was a good person while still handling him as the addict that he was.
As I said in another book review that was by this author, if she had an editor both grammatical and structurally, she’d be a beast because the stories and concept are there. She just needs polishing in other areas.
I wanna say Crimson deserved better, but I get A'Miracle's side too, but still the way she and everyone treated him for most of the book was really sad, they didn't believe he could turn his life around. Sparkle eventually did, but yeah.
Anyway this was hilarious, I have some completely random sentences highlighted, I'm not sure if they were meant to be serious or not but honestly I'm glad I picked this as my first read of the year because I needed the laughs.
Excited to read all the books in this series, I think it's such a creative spin on holiday novellas.
I had to say, I think my favorite part about the book was me laughing so hard. Now yes AJ absolutely covered some real situations in this book. This Christmas story was a whirlwind. I’m super happy that Crimson finally found it in him to get clean after suffering through such a tragic loss of his parents, and then being addicted to drugs. I disliked his twin sister sooooo bad , she needed hands. She was absolute witch and, I could’ve done without reading her.
I’m rating at a 3.6 based off the fact that I kind of feel like we were left in the wind about Pixie and North continuing their situationship.
Yes it was a nicely written book but I’m confused. Why does everyone have to be sorry to the person who decided to do coke?😒. Like let’s be fr how was Pixie made to be the villain as if she gave her brother the stuff. They went through the exact same situation and she can’t be blamed for how he decided to deal with it. Sparkle helped him more cause she wanted her son to have a dad let’s be real now. North felt some type of way that they were in it together and he didn’t catch it quicker. They all made it seem like Pixie owed him something he wasn’t a child he was 18 just like her. He didn’t even have enough respect for her like he had for them cause he sniffing in her face then gonna ask her for $50k after being sober for 2 weeks🥴😒. Chile they ain’t give sis no grace imagine how she felt to see her only living relative besides Bash doing drugs. Brah ain’t take no accountability at all like sis left her whole relationship cause she felt type of way. She was dead wrong for accusing him of stealing but besides that nope. The kids were hilarious and the best part of the book. Would’ve loved to hear about Pixie and North in the epilogue though.
The overall story was good. It had a nice happy ending. It’s about twin siblings. One male the other female who lives changed after the loss of their mother. One went down a path of drugs while the other focused on work. It shows the relationship between siblings or the lack of and how they overcame their challenges. I loved the storyline and getting a peek of someone who is trying to recover from an addiction and getting their view point on how a loved one can say things to you that are more hurtful than helpful. Although the twin sister was getting me upset on how she was treating her twin brother, I can understand how someone can be apprehensive to go all out for someone who has not put enough effort to change in the past. Thank goodness for the friends they shared because they helped get the twins together. The kids in the story are hilarious. Overall it was a good story
Absolutely deserves 5 stars! Where do I begin. The gem of this story for me was definitely Sparkle Moon. She loved Phyer and fought with him and for him. Pixie was bitter and it's unfortunate because she was about to lose her relationship with her brother. Typically, we males as being strong, protective, and able to handle anything. However, when Phyer expressed himself to his sister that he needed the extra push and that he needed her and she continued to blow him off and refused to see his progress I knew it was no hope for her. Yes, she got him the building and said sorry, but she didn't apologize big enough with sincerely for me. The kids were great, especially Dash.
This was such a good story . The writing just flowed all the way through. Second Chance love story Meets Christmas Miracle. Everybody in the book had an Happy ending. I laughed throughout the whole book which made it even better !!!
Who would want to be in a relationship with a man, former first love or not, who is hooked on cocaine? Who would want said man to be introduced to their five year old son? Who would trust this same man, two weeks out of rehab, with 50K of their hard earned money? Not my cup of tea!
Things I enjoyed: -I really enjoyed the overall plot and the characters' backstories. -As a psychologist, I wish the author did more with "Black men don't go to therapy." This was such a BIG area to explore, especially with the drug use and rehabilitation. -There were lots of funny or shocking moments throughout this book (Dash with his "big back" comment at the end had me LOLing).
Room for improvement: I think this story could be really good if the writing style was a little different (I may not have been the intended audience for this book...but I generally don't like the N word used in real life or in my books and the characters do call each other that word). What would have made this book even better is having this book dedicated to just two of the characters (or even one) with other books focusing on different characters. For example:
Book 1 - Crimson's backstory and his journey to get clean alternating with Sparkle's POV. This story could be his romance with Sparkle and revealing the truth about their son. Book 2 - A'Miracle's backstory and her romance with North Starr
Some of the romance scenes could have also used some different language. For example: "He plunged inside of my p*ssy like he was trying to unclog a toilet." Honestly, this was not a sexy way to word that she was getting jackhammered lol. But, I got the picture...it just could have been worded differently to make the scene a bit more appealing.
Author A Jaye gave us one hilarious, at times heartbreaking and emotional Christmas story. I loved Mason & Dash 🥰. They are the prime example of watching what you say around children. Dash talking about “I don’t know what kind of games the grandparents be playing that grandpa reminds grandma to take her dentures out at night” took me out🤣🤣🤣. Then Mason saying his dad put coal in Phyer stocking cause “he ain’t getting ish from him”🤣🤣🤣 That dang Pixie irked my Motherfudgesicklestix nerves. If bitter bih was a person, it would most definitely be her😒. I get Phyer chose a different path in life than she did, but dang. She treated him like a bum on the street, like they didn’t share a womb. I was so glad when Sparkle read her to filth. Then the way she treated North, smdh. She needed that reality check cause she was so full of herself🙄. Sparkle was heaven sent. I respect her decision to keep Dash in the dark about who his dad was. The way she respectfully checked Phyer about the life he was living, but still doing him love. She poured life into him, and cleaned him up, got him some things to remind him of the man he was before life kicked him in the a**. I loved these two together❤️. North was friend goals. He never turned his back on Phyer, still tried to be there for Pixie despite her evil ways.
"Fiendin for the Snowman" intricately explores the complexities of addiction, love, and redemption. Sparkle emerges as a beacon of hope, not just for Crimson but for the narrative itself. Her unwavering belief and the spiritual fortitude she exhibits in praying for Crimson adds a deeper layer to the story, illustrating the profound impact of love and faith in the battle against addiction. Her efforts to revitalize Crimson, combined with the revelation of their child, serves as a pivotal turning point in the narrative. The author cleverly uses this revelation not only as a plot device but also as a catalyst for Crimson's transformation. It's a moment that's charged with emotion, a blend of betrayal and responsibility that jolts Crimson into action. The character development here is rich and nuanced. Crimson's reaction to the news of his child—his initial shock and anger, quickly giving way to a resolute determination to better himself—reflects the messy, challenging, but ultimately hopeful journey towards recovery. This book boldly illustrates that the path to redemption is often paved with hard truths and that sometimes the hardest-hitting revelations are what propel us towards our greatest growth.
This was my 1st book by this author, and I enjoyed it and not just because of the holidays 😀.
Admittedly, the blinged out Snowman ⛄️ was a factor in my holiday reading 📚 selection.
However, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased by this holiday story. Because who doesn't want a HEA for the holidays?? It was more Tubi than Hallmark and I am still smiling 😃 😊. I really don't want to ruin it for anyone. The babies were everything and too funny to me. I really enjoyed the characters holiday-ish names. I was with it all. STILL TRYING TO PICTURE THE RACOON LOOKING DALMATIANS! "There go your 50 bands"! LMBO! As if! Now, that's love!
Great job writing this story A Jaye💕💕💕 This had me thinking of everything I went through in my 1st marriage. All was well with us and then one day it wasn’t (after his mom passed). His habit was just too much for me. Over the yrs he was in and out of rehab. 17 yrs after we divorced he passed. His heart couldn’t take it anymore. My ex was always groomed and clean. But there were times he looked a little “dusty”. You were spot on. I don’t won’t to tell too much more of the story. But this is the story of a lot of “good” people who choose drugs and alcohol to cope with loss/heartbreak in life.
A.J., this story was very inspirational and on point for those who struggle with addiction. I am a big fan of second chances but most of all a fan of stories that's about reinventing yourself. The focus , the struggles and the drive of improving yourself in so many ways is so liberating to me and that alone is so amazing. This was a Great Read for me because the story spoke volumes and inspired me to be a little more understanding period, because what you may see and think it's rash may not be for others whether it's an addiction or not but being supportive is the best option to give a helping hand. The only thing she did wrong was accused him of stealing her bracelet. Why would she give a known cokehead 50grand after only being sober for two weeks. Who would do that brother or not??? That made no sense, then they all made her out to be this horrible person who treated her brother like crap. But yet she still allowed him in her home, gave him money, food, and shelter. Only because she wasn't catering to him she was a bad sister. Wtf if you have dealt with addicts in your family then you know that she was being more the fair and accommodating to her brother.
This, it was a great start to the snowman series with the authors from AJ Presents. I love the fact that they were able to men the relationships they had with each other. Crimson's redemption was the best. I was proud and happy for him to turn his life around and for A'Miri to believe in him again. I just love A.Jaye's writing style. She has the ability to pull you into whatever world she is building in her stories. I can't wait for the next books to drop! I'm so excited about this project!
I must say this book is amazing and this is how you start off a series. I truly felt for Crimson and the tough journey he had. A’Miracle pissed me off so bad with her judgmental self. She wasn’t even trying to see that Crimson was changing, she was just so bitter. Thank goodness for Sparkle and North because they were his saving grace. But my favorites were Mason and Dash. Especially Mason when he wished for a Christmas miracle as big as Sparkle’s back lol. Overall I loved this book and looking forward to the rest of them.
Short, interesting book. I think that my favorite characters in this book was Dash and Mason. They were so cute and honest. A’miracle and Phyr’s relationship was strained after their parent’s death. She chose to throw herself into work while he turned to drugs. It’s definitely true that a person will not change until they are ready to. I’m glad that Phyr finally got himself together and he and Pixie started working on their relationship. Sparkle was definitely a good friend and support system.
This book was all over the place. It was a good plot, but it was kind of chaotic. It had quite a bit spelling errors that were distracting while reading. I know the book wanted Pixie to be the villain, but nope! I’m team Pixie. Her reactions were not wrong. She watched her brother come to her house, snort some lines then pass out. Only 2 weeks later, he comes asking for money?? Her reaction was valid! He had zero accountability in this book. He blamed his actions & everything he’s lacking on what others didn’t do for him. The kids were the best part of this book
Crimson touched my heart. We can be so consumed on our pain that we don't realize the impact we're having on others. I loved how he found reason for taking the first step and doing what he needed to do to get right for his family. His sis was selfish and trash but I like that she got it together and tried her best to make amends with her brother. I loved Sparkle and dash and North and Mason was great too. This was a heartwarming holiday story. Sometimes love and true support is all you need to get right in life.
It was a miracle that Crimson turned his life around. His lack of caring for himself seemed (to me), a twisted sense of entitlement. The excuses he made when clearly his twin suffered the same event stressed the fact that he was truly dependent on his parents and never grew up. I get why it was hard for her to trust him. The problem I had with his rehab was that it was such a short time. In addition, everyone around him gave him everything - he never worked for anything. I understand lending a helping hand, but you also have to help yourself.
I love how Sparkle didn't give up on Phyer. She has a stake in this situation. For one she went through that with her mama couldn't save her because she overdose and died, two that is her son's father and she wanted to have her family. I think Pixie shouldn't be looked as a villain because she knew and knows what Phyer is capable of doing. I figure that she blamed North because he was dealing. North paid for Phyer rehab because he felt guilt and that was his boy. Dash and Mason are hilarious and they are smart.
Great start to another 😍cute series. This story was everything. It was awesome seeing get his redemption. The of his Sparkle💎 and son was all he needed to get through. I am glad his sister realized she was wrong 😡 and apologized. She needed a snowman and it came in the form of north. Dash And mason stole the show. Great job, definitely 5 star. Can't wait to see what the other authors bring.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👏👏👏👏👏
This story had a little of everything…Second chance love, Secret not so secret Baby, Redemption and finding ones self with a great support system. Twins Pixie and Crimson experienced the worst children can after Moms action lead to destruction. Both handled the tragedy in two different ways but came into their own… Dash and Mason were the wisest of the bunch!!
I love that he was receiving so much support to get better from sparkle he really just needed that love she showed him his sister most definitely was not perfect herself which is why he wasn't changing for her she was condescending to him and I'm glad North was able to talk some sense into her and make her realize she was wrong and not really helping as much as she could.
“Fiendin’ for the Snowman (The Snowman Series - Book 1) was a good read. …weird, amorous, hilarious & compassionate, but definitely interesting. I’m confused by many events that transpired, especially between Crimson & Sparkle. I was blindsided & astonished by her generosity. Nonetheless, I guess everyone got either Christmas cookies 🤭and or a Christmas miracle🤔⁉️Clearly this novella ain’t your classic “Frosty The Snowman”.
