Rebeka Taft is a young scientist who has begun working for the Yuropian Government on the mysterious and top-secret Project Code-X. However, Rebeka soon finds out that all is not as it seems at the project. She also discovers that there is more to her boss - the charming and charismatic leader of Project Code-X - than meets the eye.
Against a background of global upheaval and the beginnings of World War 3, Rebeka starts to become increasingly disillusioned by her research work for the Yuropian Government and more concerned about her own family's personal safety. Yet, the more Rebeka tries to break free from the spider's web that is Project Code-X, the more entangled in the project she becomes. And it's not long before she and her family find themselves caught up at the very heart of the Project Code-X, just as it's finally ready to be unleashed on the world.
Inspired by George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four and Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, Project Code-X is a fresh and original look at the relentless quest for ultimate global control through the eyes of a young scientist, who is working for the advancement of her government's private political agenda. Rebeka is also a wife and mother, but her sense of morality has never been put to the test until the implications of her work force her to question her family's future safety. This makes her see both her family and her work in new light, and gradually the chords of her humanity begin to weigh in heavier against her bonds of servitude to the powers-that-be.
Can the choices of a single individual, who goes against the grain of the current world system make a difference to the collision course the world is on? Or is all resistance futile?

PROJECT CODE-X: Book 2: Beta to Psi, Part 1 picks up seamlessly from the events at the end of PROJECT CODE-X: Book 1: Alpha is the Beginning. Dr. Rebeka Taft has to face her own complicity in the events and once again realize that she is just a tool in the hands of a madman. When her family also comes into danger, she increasingly finds herself walking on a knife's edge.
It still remains exciting. I also liked the Dramatis Personae at the beginning of the book. It's just a shame that they made two parts of PROJECT CODE-X: Book 2: Beta to Psi out of it. Two parts in one book would have appealed more to me. So it really is a very short reading experience. Therefore unfortunately only 3 stars.
