I wrote this book instead of writing my Master's thesis. It led me on a strange adventure -- no regrets.

Very interesting. I am an avid crossword puzzler, and to know the origins of the puzzle is fun. I had no idea that the crossword only came on the American scene in the early 1900's. It is spawned from acrostics, charades (of all games) and rebus puzzles.
