A lovely well written coming of age story. An uplifting tale of overcoming fear and tragedy, courage and friendship. Set in the mountains of rural America. Andy must overcome his fears to save his friend. A enjoyed the setting, characters and the writing. Great ending. The narration is great. Easy to listen to with a good range making the best of the material. I received a complimentary copy from the narrator and am leaving a honest voluntary review

A realistic story of grief and healing. Refreshingly honest and relatable story of trust and communication. M.R. Street’s cast of characters are timelessly endearing… more, please!

M.R. Street's BLUE ROCK RESCUE is a classic boy-meets-girl love story...with a few twists.

The boy in this tale is fourteen-year-old Andy Broome of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. But Andy harbors a few secrets from the feisty, intelligent, new girl in town, Trudy Mitchell -- like what caused the death of his mother two years ago, or why he won't swim in the river with the rest of his friends.

Will Andy have the courage to move beyond the fears and pain of the past when his new friend needs him most?

Some of the story's most appealing aspects are: Andy's sweet nature; his immediate attraction to a highly independent, capable girl like Trudy; the close and largely angst-free relationships between the young characters and their elders; and the special role that the setting plays in the plot.

Street's descriptions of the North Carolina mountains are lush and verdant, giving the environment a vitality and characterization unto itself. BLUE ROCK RESCUE is a heartwarming story about family, friendship, love, redemption, and trust.

I didn't love this book but I didn't hate it. It was just kind of boring to me. There was way to much time spent in introducing characters and not enough time when the little action there was occured. I kind of avoided reading it at times but kept picking it up so I could get through and read a different book.

Initially, this book started slow, but it redeemed itself by picking up quickly. M.R. Street did an excellent job writing a story about a teenager who lost his mother while trying to save him from drowning at Blue Rock.

Without giving away the story, it's a great redemption story and it shows the message of "always do good unto others."

M.R. Street stole my attention as soon as a brown haired girl, Trudy walked down the road and into the story. I became even more immersed in the book because of the vivid and detailed descriptions about the horses, Baldy and Bitsy. It is an enjoyable read, where I watched Trudy and Andy’s relationship develop and the changes Andy goes through. It could easily be called a coming of age novel.
