Concluding this religious horror Faith is left to pick up the pieces of her broken life. A serial killer is murdering and displaying his victims in religious mockery.
From failing a grade as the only kid incapable of reading and writing to being a self-published author! I struggled my entire way through school on an IEP and was bullied for how long it took me to grasp things.
I grieved the death of many loved ones. My father was in prison for the majority of my life before passing away in a car accident. I've dealt heavily with suicidal thoughts and depression. My anxiety ate me up inside like my many insecurities. Like most of you guys, I had a handful of traumatic break-ups and a lifetime of betrayal. That isn't the half of it but it doesn't matter. My life is blessed!
I haven't always felt blessed, my life used to make no sense to me. But now it does because readers from all around the world can feel everything. Where do you think my characters and their emotions come from? It doesn't matter what you're reading from me, I promise it's coming from something real. Now I can smile at the opportunity to turn my unfortunate moments into redemptive masterpieces! But so can you!
The darkness is what makes your light noticeable. A loss is what makes your comeback look so victorious! Don't let anyone tell your story for you or cause you to doubt yourself. People have a tendency of projecting their own insecurities onto others. DARE TO DREAM and work relentlessly through faith, belief, inspiration, and passion! -Dylan
This House is Broken Part 3 shows Dylan Colon's growth as a writer. The third entry in the series has more layers, characters, and storylines than the first two novels. Faith is trying to recover from the trauma experienced in Part 2. Meanwhile, a serial killer is targeting religious people. And a shadowy figure from Faith's past still has plans for her. This one is just as devastating as the first two novels.
This book had such opposing storylines, but both had to do with the character's relationship or loss of relationship with Jesus.
The main villain of the story, the Red Devil, was a very nasty, disturbing character. Right at the beginning of the book, he committed a murder that truly gutted me and broke my heart. For me, everything involving that first murder was truly heart-wrenching. Check TWs.
Faith, the sister and daughter that survived a horrific relationship with her mother and the loss of siblings from the previous books, was trying to find her way after so much tragedy. While she was defining her own faith and healing, the Red Devil and others were showcasing their disgust for religion and creating chaos and destruction.
I must say, as someone who has read the previous books in this trilogy as well as the prequel, Evelyn, I am truly impressed by this latest (and final) This House is Broken book. The author has grown tremendously over the span of these books. His hard work and determination to give this trilogy the end it deserves is really evident.
Being a horror fan, I particularly enjoyed how the evil within this story was written. Truly disturbing. Being a religious horror book, there was, of course, discussions of Jesus, the Bible, and religion. The second half was a little heavy on those discussions for me. I was really wrapped up in what was going to happen in the crime/murder aspect. So, the deep discussions on the Bible's meanings and what the actions and words of Jesus meant kind of interrupted the faster pace flow. But honestly, that's the only criticism I can give.
If you haven't read this series, and you enjoy or have a curiosity about religious horror, definitely read these books! I gave this 4.5 stars rounded up to 5⭐️!
Book Review! This House is Broken Part 3 By @dylanwriteshorror *gifted • My favorite book in the trilogy by far! As everyone knows I love me some true crime, or fiction with true crime feels and this one fully delivers on that. I also love to see the character growth as well as the depth of characters in this read. Through this trilogy you really get to see Dylan develop as a writer and I am so excited too see where he goes next! My vote is definitely some crime related stories 🖤🖤🖤 • • • • • #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviewersofinstagram #readmorehorror #supportindieauthors #selfpublishedauthor #indiehorror #religoushorror #horrornerd #horrorbooks #horrorobsessed #horrornerd
I’ve had the pleasure of following this series from the very beginning. It’s a series I have enjoyed so much. This book took the story to a whole new level. Faith is plagued with bad memories and trauma. She is filled with anger and confusion towards her relationship with god. Running simultaneously to Faith’s story are other POV’s- intertwined paths that are destined to cross. Faith’s horrors are nowhere near over with a religiously-driven killer in the loose and a secret cult who are hell bent on creating a show. How will each person’s path cross and will Faith ever find the peace she deserves? Dylan really has a gift in creating atmospheric stories. I loved this series from the first page of the first book. This instalment was different- I was really attached to the characters. The story reads like a really gripping crime/thriller- I’d happily watch this as a movie! Having duel POV’s creates a story that has you wanting to scream at the characters as they walk down paths you can’t stop them from walking down. So many emotions too! A truly wonderful read.
This House Is Broken 3” is a thrilling continuation that proves the series only gets darker, sharper, and more addictive with each installment. The atmosphere is dripping with tension, and the story wastes no time pulling you back into the chaos and secrets of the house. The pacing is relentless, with new twists around every corner that left me turning the pages late into the night.
What I loved most is how the characters have grown—flawed, raw, and incredibly human, their struggles feel both heartbreaking and believable. The mix of horror, mystery, and family drama is balanced perfectly, making this not just a scary read but also an emotional one.
If you enjoyed the first two books, this third entry delivers everything you’ve been waiting for—and then some. Disturbing, suspenseful, and impossible to put down, it’s a must-read for fans of chilling, character-driven horror.
The third and final installment in Dylan Colón's This House is Broken which even if you have not been following the story will have you gripped. You can see the influence of both true crime and Thomas Harris in this one in it crime side. The story also has an interesting character study aspect in regards to Faith's life after the events the prior books. I can see a certain biblical quality to Faith's final fate which I shan't spoil. But certainly a wonderful book for fans of both religious horror and true crime, and fiction based upon it.
A good book by a great author. Not my favorite in the series but it was still a twisted, sad, disturbing, and violent read. Some of the violence was a bit much for me, as with some religious elements. But I suggest giving this book a read, especially if you read the first two books. There is a bit of Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs style themes, along with elements that feel like they taken from the SAW movies.
The ending frustrated me so much, but maybe that's just because I'm not a Christian anymore and still haven't gotten over David dying. I thought for sure little Faith was going to survive at least 😭 But the author got me to care about the characters, so still 5 stars even if this series made me want to throw my kindle across the room multiple times lol. I'll be thinking about this series and the Singleton family for a while.
