From grand opening to grand mystery, this isn't your average bookstore.
When Dorothy and Frank turn the page to start a new chapter with a quaint bookshop/café, they didn't expect their first signing to be a literal death sentence.
There's nothing like a dead author to put a damper on sales!
Who knew the pen could be mightier than the peace in Oakwood? With the help of Dorothy’s granddaughter Zoe and familiar Buttons, they swap their aprons for detective hats. But can these amateur sleuths bookmark the guilty party before their dream business becomes a crime scene?
Or will their investigation turn their cozy bookshop into a hardcover horror story?
You can a paranormal cozy mystery with a sassy grandma who is a witch and won't stop asking questions. She's got a snarky familiar and a granddaughter to help her. I wrote this because I was sort of tired of the same old cozy mystery with the single girl who with the quirky grandma. So now its time for the grandma to get the spotlight in this brand new series!
I loved the other two books in the Detective Grandma series, and was very happy to find Rocking Chairs and Rituals. The bookshop and café was so homely, and I still like finding out what the characters get up to. Frank is great too, and I like the friendship between him and Grandma.
I really hope there are more books in the series.

Dorothy & Zoe learn Frank’s secret, he’s been planning a bookstore/cafe for Dorothy’s retirement. But all their hard work it is threatened when author, Victoria Chauduri, is killed before her book signing on opening day. Is her death the result of a domestic dispute or a rival author? Or is it somehow tied to Adam’s disappearance and the blackmail & corruption the team previously uncovered? Dorothy, Zoe, Frank, & Buttons are determined to find the truth. Taking on a powerful foe could put the team in danger, but justice is worth it.

For those of you wanting a cozy mystery with a little bit of magic and a talking cat, this book is for you! Once again, Dorothy stumbles upon another dead body, though this time it's in the grand opening of her lifelong dream of opening a bookstore, Frank and Dot's. If you've read the other books in the series, you know that Dorothy has been nursing a broken heart over her missing son, Adam. Well, the final pages show us the end of that mystery, though once again, leaves the book at a cliffhanger, leaving you to hurry and order book 4 in the series. Enjoy!
A continuation of a cute lightly paranormal (there is a talking cat named Buttons) Grandma Dorothy, her granddaughter, Zoe and Dorothy's boyfriend, Frank. This is such a fun series. Thank goodness the town has the sleuthing trio or the jails would be full of innocent people. Although this is the third book in this new series it is easy to read as a standalone. And it has a satisfying conclusion with a hint towards the next book in the series..
You're never too old for love, or to become a sleuth later in life. Look at gran Dorothy. She again teams up with her granddaughter to solve a murder and they are still looking foor her son. Finished the book in an evening. I just love this series. I received a free advance review copy of this book via Booksprout and I'am leaving a voluntarily and honest review.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. A murder in their new book cafe leads to surprising revelations about the town. I liked the big reveal of the murderer. I especially liked that Adam comes home although why he was gone was interesting. However what is going on with Buttons?
This was my favorite book of this series so far! There wasn’t just a murder solved and explained, but a side story that’s been simmering since book 1 got solved—and it got an epic ending. Can’t say a whole lot more without spoiling, except there’s a small cliffhanger. But I’m headed to KU to borrow the next book and I’ll soon have my answer, maybe. 😉
Wow I absolutely love this series of books. The author keeps you on the edge the whole time you are reading. You get so caught up in the story you can forget that it's a story its so realistic.
