We all know that one guy. The one who can't be trusted to touch anything or he'll break it, destroy it, or find a way to make it worse. This anthology contains stories about that guy as he bumbles, stumbles and destroys his way across different genres and settings.
I certainly have never read a book like this one before. There are so many different stories about the man with the same name - an idiot who has the worst luck ever and comes up with the craziest schemes this side of the Milky Way (and yes he has been to outer space too!!) - all by different authors. Plus it starts out at some intergalactic zoo. Boy did that zoo trip go horribly wrong! But that was just the beginning... This guy has the worse jinx ever.
Ok, I had thought this would be funny. Look at that cover! The third story in here did make me chuckle but it's not really a funny book. But to my surprise I actually got super interested in these unusual tales. And what else was this zany guy up to? He has gotten all different types of jobs and so the madness is spread everywhere. One moment he is trying to move a huge bull statue (and using a truck is way too ordinary for this guy so no that is not what he does) and the next he has plans of being famous by rescuing a woman from criminals. Then he's off to work at a stable full of griffins and pegasus... Next he is with the Fae. Plus a bunch more insane stuff.
My absolute favourite was the court trial! Now normally I hate books about courts and lawyers. They are so boring! But this was was just so totally different and unique! A court with dogs!! And over a special toy.
The hotel story was fun too. Fluffy!! I wonder what was Fluffy's real name?
I liked the stories near the back of the book much better. Except for the one about the faeries. The zoo one was very creative - like a chain of events - but I think it seemed a tad too stiff? I sure wouldn't want to visit that zoo!
Oh... And that very last story? To Whom It May Concern? Absolutely perfect! The trouble maker got his just deserts (but in many of the tales he just doesn't know any better)... By a washing machine!! Such a fun little horror story!
But there is so much creativity in here. I am actually amazed at how much I liked this one. And how the character of one man who has certain characteristics can be written in so many different ways and in so many different environments. There is truly something in here for everyone.
