Hello Kitty, a cute Japanese cartoon-turned-marketing empire, is celebrated in all of her manifestations in this collectors’ book. Hello Kitty collectables, nearly all of which are cheaply-made knickknacks, are depicted in full color along with value guides. (Sadly, the Hello Kitty shoulder massager and Hello Kitty AK-47 are noticeably absent.)
Perhaps more generic and inscrutable than Kitty herself is the “biography”/timeline at the beginning of the book. The author highlights “memorable sayings” from Kitty throughout the years such as “I like drawing” and “Good Health Starts with Cleanliness.” (Absent as she is of a mouth, there was something I always found a bit melancholy about Hello Kitty.)
I did learn one thing, however: despite her quintessentially Japanese design, Hello Kitty is supposedly British!
Very lovely book or album if I must say, great treasure to those who loves Hello kitty world, every single little thing that related to Hello kitty: watches, dresses, shoes etc.. nice one from the first item they release till recently ^_^
