Outlines the rules of book publishing and discusses writing a book proposal, finding an agent, evaluating a publisher, negotiating contracts, and building a successful career
This book is quite informative about the world of publishing, publishers agents and authors. It is not about getting an idea for a book, but what happens after you get your idea, write and complete the book and are ready for an agent and/or publisher (including self-publishing).
From Book Idea to Bestseller, thoroughly outlines (and I do mean thoroughly) each step needed to make your book a success:
1. Proposal writing 2. Getting and working with an agent 3.. Working with a publisher 4. Marketing and getting publicity for your book 5. Mail order (if that is of interest, for instance, for those who want to self-publish)
Although published in the late 90s (about 1997), there is nothing outdated about this book except maybe the mention of a few writing tools/technology that has been replaced by newer technology. I would recommend this book to any aspiring writer young, old or in-between.
